Licensed Master Social Worker

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Counsels and assists patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose illness or hinder the patient from receiving maximum benefits from medical care. Provides skilled intervention for the support and/or resolution of patient and family crisis, problem-solving and decision support, advocacy and facilitation necessitated by life-changing events, coping with the disease process and other psycho-social and socioeconomic issues.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Masters degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work is required. One year of post-Masters experience in a health care setting is preferred.

LICENSURE

Current state licensure as an LMSW from the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners is required.
